My other work in process is the 120mm figure of a Virginia Militiaman during the American war of Independence, from Sabot Miniatures. I added the powder horn to the figure, which is otherwise a stock kit. Hunt was one of my wife’s ancestors, who lived near Bedford, Virginia during the war. Afterwards he moved to western South Carolina to an area just north of modern day Greenville, SC. Painted in oils and acrylics. Still a few touch ups remaining before completion.

Beautifully done. Funnily enough I have this one currently on its way to me across the Atlantic. If he turns out half as well as yours once he reaches my bench, I will be a happy camper.

Very nicely done! And the personal historical connection adds a unique and interesting dimension to your project. (Btw, I live in the Greenville, SC area myself, so it increases my appreciation of the figure, as well.)

Best regards,
Gary

Hunt settled in the Travelers Rest area, on land granted by the Governor of SC. A number of his descendants still live in that area, on part of that land.

Hi Kurt

Always happy to see your artwork , this piece is a cracking subject and as others have said so realistic

Presentation overall is great the figure sits well in the groundwork

Thanks for sharing

Looking forward to seeing more updates

Have fun at the bench

Everybody else has already said everything, but for me to take a subject that is in muted colours and lacks ostentation and make it stand out like this is indeed very impressive.

Cheers Simon
