Hello,
anybody on this plant who has this lovely bust and want to sell it to a bust-enthusiast?
I would be very happy if the miracle occurs and I could get the Cid.

Regards
Frank

Hi Frank,
You may know that Jim Johnston sold off his Fort Duquesne product line a while ago. Here's a link to the guy that bought most of his pieces...

Ft Duquesne

He is producing some of the FD line, including the El Cid (well, it's listed as coming soon). I bought mine last summer from him while at the IPMS nationals show in Atlanta.
I was fortunate enough to get my hands on one that had been cast by Jim and not the new owner of the molds. I want to let you know that new castings that I saw were not of as good a quality as the originals from Jim. The resin he was using seemed of an inferior quality and the overall quality of the casting itself wasn't too good.
It's really great to see Jim's pieces available again but I just wish that they were made better than what I saw.
Just my 2 cents :)
Craig

Craig, It would be nice to see this and other Fort Duquesne pieces offered in the future. However I highly doubt we will ever see them produced at the high level that Jim was able to produce them at. I have even contacted the NEW owners of the Fort Duquesne pieces about doing some work for them. Unfortunately, the quality of communication with them mirrors the quality of "their" versions of the Fort Duquesne line.

I hope your able to locate a copy that was produced by Fort Duquesne. I'm sure one will surface one day.~Gary

Frank,
Stand in line brother. Myself and at least a half dozen other miniaturists are looking for that bad boy.

You might be interested to know that the sculptor of the FD El Cid has started his own line of VERY limited edition busts, Augie Rodriguez. His company is Peach Mountain Miniatures. Check out www.elpassohonroso.com for images or contact Augie at [email protected] for more info. Also, The Red Lancers will be the retail out let for them as well. My orders have already been placed for the first two that will be shipping within a week or two.

Best!
Ric
