Greetings,

I am looking for Fort Royal Review's 1/4 scale bust of the Anglo-Saxon Warlord (with Coppergate helmet). If you have one you would like to part with, or know where I might find one, please contact me via e-mail or PM.

Thanks in advance,

Augie

I've got one Augie, but it was damaged when I moved from North Carolina to Oklahoma. The chin / neck guard is broken and the nose guard is gone. I'll take a pic and post in a few minutes

I think this is the one you were looking for. The original box is long gone.

Hi Guy,

THAT'S THE ONE! :)

The only damage that I can see is that the left edge of the "brooch" (by the edge of the cloak) is broken off--no big deal.

I can't see any damage to the "chin/neck guard", though there might be an edge broken that is not visible. Would you elaborate, please?

The nasal, however. . . :( It would all depend if I decided that the project required the Coppergate helmet, or if I could depict it with the Pioneer helmet. . .

And a final question if I may: is it primed, or no? Can't really tell from the image.

Asking price (if you were willing to part with it)? Via e-mail, please.

THANK YOU, sir!

Augie

Augie,

The only damage I can see is the left Chin guard and the cloak Brooch It has not been primed, but is dusty as it has set on an open shelf. I can clean with mild detergent. Will take a couple of more pics and email you. Please email me with your addy as it isn't available through pf nor can I send an image.

Here is a close-up of the left chin guard (by the beard) and the brooch that is chipped.

I've got one too. Guy's copy doesn't look primed at all, considering it's cold-cast resin. This bust is extremely easy to damage due to the brittleness of the bust. Mine's going on eBay this weekend (I already promised some buyers I'd do that). Too bad DreamCatcher never put this gem into production since it's a real beauty of the bust. The facial features in particular are extraordinary. My only thing is why cover the nose with a noseguard? Is there a way to depict the dude without the noseguard and get away with it? The eyes, nose, and mouth are just amazing, so it would be a shame to cover up any of these.

Hi Pete,

The "star" of this bust is the Coppergate helmet which has been done to a "T"--save for the mail which we won't discuss, especially as the rings on the aventail were, if memory serves, 7.8mm in diameter, which is relatively large and would result in a fairly "open" weave.

This style of helmet has a nasal. There are but two examples in existence, which constitute 50% or so of the "pre-Viking era" helmets found in Britain to date. Were there similar helmets without nasals? Possibly; but with the cut of the browband coming to a peak midface, highly unlikely.

Augie,

I'd love to know what you've got planned. Will you be working on this at your new location? I need to drop by.

Shane

Hi Shane,

As soon as I receive the bust from Guy, I will be launching a sbs at my new home: introductory comments, including a brief overview of the work to be undertaken have already been posted (folder "Paso-a-Paso/Taller" as this falls outside of the temporal scope of MedRen).

This project has evolved from a commission inquiry that may or may not bear fruit. Either way, a plausible reconstruction--by way of minor conversion--of St. Oswald, King of Northumbria (†642AD) will be an interesting [slight] detour from my normal haunts, and will give me the opportunity to work on a 1/4 scale bust not of my own doing.

Looking forward to seeing you there,
