Hi all,

I don't get round to posting much on this site but I always look in and see whats happening around the threads, however,....
I have actually completed a figure , so if you`d like to take time to have a look see and give me some advice etc that would be very welcome.

Mostly done with Vallejo`s and Andrea acylics the photo lighting washes out the shading somehwhat so I`ll have to improve my photography skills,..

Anyway here is he and thanks for looking

Hi Andy

Great subject , like the uniform colours ..nice shading on the top ...a cracking hair style as we;; ........the groundwork is really nicely done, like the sabre just against the fence

Good work on the boots as well .....how did you get this effect ?

Thanks for sharing this piece

Nap

Thank you Martin and Nap,

Nap, the boots were base painted in Pure Vallejo Black and then German Cam black brown was added to that in increasing quantities from top of the boot to bottom.
Dark flesh was then added to that on the toe cap/heel areas again in increasing amounts until finally the toe cap scuff was pure dark flesh.
If the effect was not gradual or looked wrong I then washed the lower portions with Cam blk/brwn and then finally black to line out the seems and deep creases.

As for the sabre I did actually add the leather sabre straps to the back of the figure so it just looks as though he took the sabre off for a while

I must have a 54mm foot fetish because I love painting boots !!

Anyway I glad you like him, he has been a great little project to work on

Beautifully done. Who produces this figure?
Thanx for the tips on the boots... I can never get them to look quite right:confused: . I'll try this combo out tonight.

Hello Andy, Excellent painting overall. I like how you displayed your Cossack, with him leaning on the fence, and the slope for the groundwork. Thanks for sharing your mix for the boots, they look great. A beautiful piece Andy, Regards, SG:)(y)(y)

SG, Marc, Zeno, Nick thank you ever so much for your great comments,....

I left John Bowery to last because I know him personally as a friend and I have to thank him once again for his advice and encouragement over the past few years, so thanks John

Very nice all round painting ,groundwork and general set up(y)
Know what you mean about the digi camera washing out the shading ,I don't know if this just peculiar to digi's or not but can't seem to remember film having this problem.
