Hello friends in planetfigure,
I have just received the latest release from the well known Russian company Irbis Miniatures of Alexey Lukanev (also well known for his figure paintings). It is an American Civil War Figure of a Washington Artilleryman in 1/24th scale (75mm). It is casted in High Quality Grey Resin (32 pieces). I must say again that the only thing that you need to do is to clean the small molding blocks and go for painting. And there are no molding lines or air bubbles!!! It is again one excellent kit! The surface of this grey resin is very nice and the sculpting of Dmitriy Shevtsov (figure) and the 3-d sculpting of the gun from Alexey’s company is of the highest level! You can find more photos of the finished vignette in the company’s website. I think that you must go into the company’s website for getting some help with the assembly of the gun using the excellent reference photos. If your are not so familiar with this type of guns you must use the reference photos from the web! The nice addition is the option of two different gun barrels so you can make one 12-pounder or one 6-pounder Napoleon gun. Both barrels have almost the same length and shape so the difference is in the gun’s muzzle (almost double in diameter for the 12-pounder). I can not wait to start it. From my first dry fits I have to note that if your are going to use the base supplied in the kit you must make a lot of dry fits so the right hand and the whole figure leans and fits perfectly in the wheel of the gun before you start the painting! If you will make your own base this is a task that anyway you must do it every time for the realistic sit of the figure to the ground and to the gun! Overall I think that this nice vignette is one of the best from kits available in this scale and sets new standards in the ACW 75mm models. Take a look at the following photos for more information and personal evaluation.
