Hello friends in planetfigure,

I have just received the latest release from the well known Russian company Irbis Miniatures of Alexey Lukanev (also well known for his figure paintings). It is an American Civil War Figure of a Washington Artilleryman in 1/24th scale (75mm). It is casted in High Quality Grey Resin (32 pieces). I must say again that the only thing that you need to do is to clean the small molding blocks and go for painting. And there are no molding lines or air bubbles!!! It is again one excellent kit! The surface of this grey resin is very nice and the sculpting of Dmitriy Shevtsov (figure) and the 3-d sculpting of the gun from Alexey’s company is of the highest level! You can find more photos of the finished vignette in the company’s website. I think that you must go into the company’s website for getting some help with the assembly of the gun using the excellent reference photos. If your are not so familiar with this type of guns you must use the reference photos from the web! The nice addition is the option of two different gun barrels so you can make one 12-pounder or one 6-pounder Napoleon gun. Both barrels have almost the same length and shape so the difference is in the gun’s muzzle (almost double in diameter for the 12-pounder). I can not wait to start it. From my first dry fits I have to note that if your are going to use the base supplied in the kit you must make a lot of dry fits so the right hand and the whole figure leans and fits perfectly in the wheel of the gun before you start the painting! If you will make your own base this is a task that anyway you must do it every time for the realistic sit of the figure to the ground and to the gun! Overall I think that this nice vignette is one of the best from kits available in this scale and sets new standards in the ACW 75mm models. Take a look at the following photos for more information and personal evaluation.

Looks a lovely sculpt, and a nice crisp cast with minimum clean-up. I might even be tempted by this.

Not sure what a "Washington Artilleryman" is supposed to be though. Looks like a Confederate to me.

Looks like a great figure... The artillery is an often ignored arm of service in our hobby. Not as numerous as infantry or romantic as cavalry.

Having worked with other figs from Irbis, I can testify to the quality of their casting and especially their fantastic customer service.

I may have to order this one myself having seen this review

IT is pricey but when you consider you are getting a 75mm artillery piece also ; it aint that bad .
Is this from Tronianni painting ; if so it might not be around that long so if you want one it better be grabbed fast

This kit is awesome. I like the casting - it seems there are no bubbles, everything is very sharp... And the field gun... I'm sure it's a very good kit for everyone who likes American Civil War.

I wouldn't really do anything relating to ACW but with the artillery piece I would be tempted, I love the old guns!
Looks clean and this paint job shows it off nicely.
The cost, umm, I'm not sure. I do like it though.

105 is steep but for the fig the gun carriage and 2 barrels... there's a lot there and good quality but I think you'd really have to be a acw buff to part with that kind of coin.
I really do like artillery subjects though... and there's so few out there... arrgh, decisions decisions

Hello again,
I forgot to mention something very interesting and useful. The gun barrels have already the holes in the muzzles with the exact right diameters!!!In most cases of resin kits the modeler must open the muzzle wholes…Not in this kit!! What you see in the painted gun is what you take in the kit!!!
