Water On Groundworks

Hi,
Is there some other way to simulate water without that water effect products?
I know that you can for example use gloss varnish to simulate wet ground. But, to do some little stream??

Vallejo water Effects Pedro, that's OK as long is it isn't too thick.
Other than that, clear epoxy resin, or for small amounts epoxy adhesive,

I use liqatex clear gloss gel with the smallest amount of paint mixed in to colour it . It's firm enough to sculpt into shape and when it dries I cover it with a few layers of Vallejo still water. The gives the effect that it more transparent at the surface. For water falls I just spread a thickish layer out on my cutting mat, let that dry and peel off and super glue into place. another quick dash with some gel to add some body and shape then again with the Vallejo still water.

I've always had great results with Liquitex Gloss Medium and/or Modeling Paste.
