Okay, we regularly see ground vehicles, both military and civilian, as well as aircraft in wedgie displays. I have this figure, illustrated with JMD's boxart, as part of a planned WW I series:
JMD-022.jpg
.
If I were to add the front of a horse, ahead of the saddle, would that be considered a wedgie? Since there's a ;ike;ihood of its being displayed at some point, minimally at a meeting as well as shows, I'm wondering how it would be received.

Hi Al

I think it`s a really good idea, but the reception all depends on the execution. By that I mean the placement of the horse and neck, say coming over the right arm of the trooper would work without major changes to the figure IMO. Not to discourage you, but the WW I JMD kits I have are closer to 62mm then 54mm, so finding the right horsey to wedgie may be an issue.

Still, it`s a great kit to try the idea with.

Regards
Rich

You might try using a 75mm horse rather than a 54mm. Patrick Kirk did a wedgie with a horse a couple of years ago and displayed it at the Atlanta Show. It would certainly qualify as a wedgie but I wouldn't worry about being caught up with semantics.

I think the term wedgie just means that there is a piece of (a wedge) of a vehicle, aircraft, or in this case horse, present on the display base.

As far as the reception goes, I think that'll depend on the audience.

Imagining it in my head I think it would look odd, but it's certainly worth trying at least once to see what it looks like for real - AFV wedgies are an odd thought but I think they can look pretty cool in the flesh (does depend on the cut and how well it's carried through).

Good to know, thanks.

Andy Cairns did it with his drover that works, and there was one of a Currasier with a similar idea but I can''t think who makes that one.
Carl.

Al,
Go for it. We have seen enough wedgies with plane's, cars, AFV,s and so on.
I think it depends on how you manage the whole thing.
It must be tastefull (like Andy's), very good executed, and extremely well painted.
Good luck, and do it.

I think this may be what Carl refers to above.

Ademola 22 200mm resin bust. Very fine sculpt and casting, and super box art paint.

Sounds interesting. My only suggestion is to use as small a base as possible. If the base is large enough to accommodate a complete horse, viewers would naturally be inclined to ask, "Why didn't he just include the entire horse?"

BTW, your next challenge will be to do a second wedgie with the horse's rear end!

A clever idea. One thing I noticed is that the other examples are busts with wedgies.

As you have a full standing figure, you may want to use the front part of the horse, not just the head?
