Thanks to everyone who has followed this project and the hints and tips I have been given.

This is a Historex conversion with the helmet and uniform details being scratch built. I used an NCO Historex head and hands from Figure in Italy courtesy of El Greco.

He is painted entirely in acrylics from SC75, Vellajo, Darkstar (metallics) and Citadel using AK Ultra Matt Varnish as a thinner and top coat.

Simon, a truly wonderful model in many aspects. Your explanations, technical and paint details have helped me, and many more no doubt, to try various possibilities on our models too.

Many thanks guys I am colouring up from all your kind comments. Given I tried something new with the metallics and green either works or dies on its feet for me I am rather pleased.

I anticipated the anticlimax and have already prepared the dolly for my next foot figure. Stefan I will be using another set of the puttied lower legs you sent me and doing a French Foreign Legion figure.

Also started the next cuirassier for my heavy metal project. But first, snow permitting we are having a long weekend in the Lizard, snow in the west country, weird weather!

In brief: lovely. Nicely sculpted, painted and rendered overall.
You've created a dandy. He looks the part, with a proper face and really nice tones.
There's never a fanfare when a figure gets finished; just a running out of things to do, and a period of finding faults in your own work.
But trust me: this is a really nice piece.

Cheers David, I am pleased with him just have a nagging doubt that his legs are too short. But hey ho he's done and off to gather dust in the cabinet.

It is odd, there is the anticlimax of finishing a piece but once it's in the cabinet I have little or no interest in it anymore. Then again I've been told I'm odd and much worse over the years which is all very amusing so hey it must be normal, well for me anyway.

Looking at the weather the South West is under snow, hoping this doesn't spoil my long weekend. Don't mind getting snowed in down there but I want to get there first!

The fig's proportions look okay. Legs maybe are a tad short, but I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it.
My mate Pip French had short legs, but it didn't stop him being a fanny magnet in his youth.
