Jeff its called Ameriana drying time extender, you can either add with your water or mix 1 : 1 with your paint, you can also use it neat on recently painted work to blend colours

There are many practical uses for wet pallets of course.....here are just a couple that I can recommend as very useful..........

And yes my case manager tells me I have too much time on my hands, and that it's time which could be more usefully spent.

never used a wet pallet so cant say, using the extender the paint stays wet for long enough in my plastic dish

Retarder slows down the acrylics drying time. This is particularly useful if one wants to blend the paint wet-in-wet while painting. I'm not sure if it keeps the paint from drying out on the plastic dish tray palette though.

A wet palette avoids the acrylic paint from drying on the palette. As the water evaporates from the paint it is replenished through the paper membrane. Drying time on the figure is unchanged.

OK so I looked on you tube to see how to make one of the myself . As said earlier it's pretty straight forward. Stopped in a craft store earlier to look at the kind the stores sell for shit@ and giggles and it sells for $20 bucks replacement pads are $5 bucks apiece . So when I finally get back to painting it's the do it yourself version for me .can't see spending the money on the one from the store since it's not something I will use every day just my thoughts

Retarder does stop it from drying out for awhile on the tray and you can add more if needed but it does dilute the paint a little each time
