What diameter pins should I get to mount 1-10 & 1-9 scale busts to the base ? And also what would be the right diameter pins to use for the bust s themselves ? I wasn't sure and bought some from a gaming store that are 1.90mm I hope these will be usable

Yes that was what I was afraid of Lol and thanks for the quick replies leaving now to see what I can find.

Hello,
I have found in craft stores they have the chimes for making wind chimes. These are brass you get about 8 they are about 5 to 6 inches long. I us these to mount bust to the base. I believe they also have solid ones. Worth a look. Regards, Brock

I use 5/32 solid brass rods - found at most hobby shops. they come in 3 ft. pcs. and are reasonably priced!! Can't bend those puppies!! Dave

The one thing that would help answer this question is the fact that when works are shown here in pics ; it mostly focuses on the sculpt or painting and not the overall balance of the piece which includes the base.
So I don't think you would want use a thin rod and a block of two x four on a well done painted piece you've put hours into.........There are many options when mounting a piece;but most revolve around creativity...........Visualize the overall finished piece including the base and do whatever suits your fancy.
(to quote the Moody Blues...."Thinking is the best way to travel"................unfortunately,I don't always adhere to that.....Oh well, just trying to help.............................Regards,..Wayne

Thanks guys for all the idea's. Quite a few options all better than what I have done in the past . Then again I never took my time or put alot into what I did . But that has changed thanks again

Brass tube 6mm is spot on, I was going to say you can get it at B&Q then noticed you are in Ohio: so perhaps a large hardware outlet .
Best thing for cutting tube to size is a plumbers pipe fitting tool ,it will give you a nice clean cut .
3" is a good size that will give you enough to sink into the base and the figure .

Just a little note ! if you are using an angled base ; drill the hole slightly forward of centre otherwise the the bust will sit to far back and look odd , about an eight of an inch is about right .

A little trick you can use is to drill the hole in the bust a bit oversize compared to the tube diameter so if you run off of true you have a little room for adjustment and it can easily be filled with putty and not seen , also if you over drill the depth on the base you can then adjust the height by filling with a little putty before glueing .
