Howdy,
I was wondering what companys do with old molds or companys that are no longer around do with thier molds. I am thinking of Chessire and Chota Shiab,(spelling), mil art, Fort Royal review and New Order Designs. Or, what about OOP molds? Old Verlinden and Warriors figures? Any help would be great. I would love to get New Order Designs molds for their 120mm weapons and produce them.
Thanks, Ryan And Happy Hoildays to you and yours.

I'm certainly no expert, and I am aware that there are many manufacturers, and their friends who are planet members and better able to directly answer you. However, I am lead to understand that figure master molds are possibly the most valuable asset these companies have, and are therefore very carefully guarded. Often times you will hear of other companies aquiring the molds from OOP kits and reissuing them, but I would imagine the negotiations for these rights are complex legal and business transactions. Having said that, I can't imagine why someone who wanted to couldn't aquire some of these molds. It would just be a matter of the right price and making sure your legal bases are covered. I'd say if your really interested, you've come to the right place.

I think someone has come up with the same audacious business plan but beat you to the punch a bit. Check out The Lost Battalion web site - http://www.angelfire.com/mn3/tlbminiatures/index.html.

The Meyers appear to be buying every mold they can lay their hands on from just the defunct companies you mentioned. My hat is off to them (and anyone else who can make it work and stay in the figure business!).

Question - Something you said jogged my memory. I can't find the NOMD web site anymore. Is New Order Model Design definitely out of business? Can someone confirm or deny with certainty? And I agree - some great 120mm weapons.

All the best,
Dan

I ordered some from Red Lancers. I was looking for more and was informed that he had not heard anything in about 7 to 8 months. I am hoping to contact them directly to see what the status is. I just want to produce weapons and maybe gear in 120mm. Just a little side thing. Time will tell. Ryan
