What glue ? someone please

I have now glueed my celtic warrior for the fifth time. (some parts) But they still come of. :angry: Everytime i cleaned it up, and wait for the glue to set. The glue i used is cyano-acrylaat glue.
Is this the wrong one, or not. If not what do i wrong?
Is it better to use two minute epoxy or something like that.
Someone please help

Hello Marc,
Sorry you are having problems. I use 5-minute epoxy on all my parts assembly. If you are glueing metal. the metal may be too heavy thus breaking the joint by shear weight. If you are glueing resin, I would say your glue has lost its shelf life. Just my opinion. I am sure others may have some good suggestions too.

Are the surfaces of the parts that you are trying to glue clean. If this is a resin figure it will have some chemicals on the surface that are from the castinf process.

Even for metal figures, I think ou need to clean up with warm water, soap and a toothbrush. Oils from your hand and metal or resin dust would also prevent adhesion.

I have found that, if possible, a slightly rough surface to the items to be glued helps the adhesion.

What else???

I use the cyano acrylate glue that you mention. Could you have a bad tube of glue? Try a brand new tube on similar material before your next try? There are many formulations of CA glue. Make sure it is useable with the material you are trying to glue!

Epoxy works too but I have found it too thick for some of my applications.

Dear Guy
I trust you, and your answers. I think you are a very good artist. I love all your work, and someday I hope I can do the same job.
But with my 48 years and just beginning i think thats impossible.
For the glue it is fresh, still got the bottle 3 weeks, and keep it in the cooler.
I glue metal, and i think you got a point there (about the weight). Tomorrow i buy me some epoxy glue.

I have to agree with Keith and make sure your pieces are clean from any casting residue and a rough surface does help too. I use the epoxy on small parts with a tooth-pick as like Keith says it is thick. With epoxy I also apply a thin coat to both surfaces and wait until my mix starts to harden then attach the two parts. ( I keep the mix on an index card right next to me so I can check the hardening process by moving the popsicle stick or tooth-pick and when it starts to harden apply both parts.)

Sometimes in time Cyano glues, lose their teeth and all of a sudden 5 years dwon the road, the arm falls off <_<

Hi :lol: Have you tried pinning the parts together,in addition to using the cyano,or 2-part epoxy,to join the various kit parts together Just my 2 cents worth.Do let us know the end result of this saga.Cheers.

I only use 5 minute epoxy on figures, both metal and resin. In over 25 years of painting I have never had a part fall off. I also pin any major joints.
