I wonder where this year will take us!!!

We have Vikings by the boat load,Romans by the legion, the wehrmacht and SS are everywhere,
we have run out of Greeks ,Cossacks and Russians are well covered, enough Crusaders to start a new Crusade, mountain men behind every Fir tree ,choice of paints is now staggering you need a mortgage just to cover the range of acrylics alone ,oils are at least a tenner a tube but don't go above series 2 or you will need a bank loan.

Looks like we will have to go back to Napoleonic's :D(y)

WWI is really big right now and I expect the trend to continue or even ramp up as we move through the centenary. About time for a somewhat forgotten war.

Napoleonics seem to be in decline over the alst few years, at least by the large manufacturers. Strange that the bicentenary of the Napoleonic wars was/is so quiet, at least this side of the Atlantic. There was a small flurry of interest in Canada this past year re. the War of 1 812 but I haven't seen much on anything else re. 200 years ago. Maybe the issue is that virtually everything Napoleonic has been well done already. There are always personalities to do :)

Thats only because you were around back then Steve ;). I'm with you Ron some more Cossacks would be nice, maybe more Prussians, Austrians and Russians from the napoleonic period too.

I'm all for a new push on Napoleonics... HOWEVER, perhaps producers will turn their eye away from the standards- French Imperial guard!
Every corner of Europe had troops involved yet very few have been represented in miniature. Prussians, Russians, Bavarians, Austrians, all the small German states, British in India(1790s and early 1800s)... so many subjects beyond Guard Grenadiers.
I would also love to see a revisiting of the soldiers of the 7 Years War, Marlboroughs armies and enemies, The Great Northern War... The fields of Europe were covered with beautiful uniforms from 1700 to the Revolution.
Failing all that, Austro-Prussian, Franco-Prussian, Mexican-American, Fenian Rebellion... The list goes on!

There's still loads of Napoleonic subjects, especially British. How about some figures from Wellington's campaign in India; the light dragoons with the 'tin' helmets and light blue jackets for one. Then you've got the personalities that have been I'll served by figure manufacturers; Wellington, Moore, Uxbridge, Picton, Mercer, Scovell... I could go on...and on............
Wish I could sculpt! :)

I am a fanatic of the Napoleonic era (my collection of figurines is monothematic, practically almost exclusively Napoleonics!) and there are still many subjects on which the producers could play (just think of all the allies of the "Grande Armeé" ...). However I'd really like to see something more about the Italian wars of independence or the War of 7 years, which saw many countries involved. (Sorry for my english.... :()

I'd like to see more Seven Years War subjects, and fortunately, in my world of toy soldiers, there is a good selection in the pipeline and coming onto the market. Tradition's kits are right up my alley. And I'll continue my bottom-feeding habits ("That's why they call me 'Catfish'!") of scouring eBay and vendor tables for old Staddens, Roses, Imrie-Risleys and such.

Prost!

I'm all for more FRW, SYW, Great Northern War (neat release from Chronos this year), War of 1812 would be nice, and definitely Russo-Japanese.
Some more Victorian Brits would be nice, perhaps Sudan or Afghanistan, Egypt?

French and more French troopers of the American revolution for me, i already thinking of few figures of my native country Argentina, there are some colonial troops that i found online and would be nice to paint them.
That is an area that is a little forgotten by historian and miniaturist in general, the wars of independence in South America.
i may also sculpt my first figure . :)
