Hi all,
Simple question for you all, not so simple to answer.
What are your top 5 commercially available figures or busts of all time?

(They don't have to be in any order, include the name of the kit, the company and pics if you can as some older kits may not be so well known.)

Not an easy one by any means. Soooo many top kits out there.

However, it I was on a burning plane and could only rescue what i could carry, I'd pick these.

Kirin Highland Clansman.
Kirin Turkish standard bearer. Both 120mm form Mike Good's talented hands. I will get round to these when I feel able to do them justice. Don't hold your breath.

Poste Militaire's Chasseur a Cheval, Mamluke and Mounted Ugrian Warrior. So good in every way.

I have done the Chasseur and have another. These kits are go good that when you've finished them, you'd be gutted as anything else just ain't as good.

1. Kirin. 11th Dragoon.
2. Jon Smith. NCO WW1.
3. Young. 101st Airborne Bastogne.
4. Young. LRDG.
5. JMD. Senegelaise Trumpeter.
Hard choice really, could have had a lot more. It looks like I have a fetish for men in long coats.
Carl.

Mine would be:
1. Andreas: George Armstrong Custer at full gallop.
Being a bit of a horseman myself I can fully relate to this beautifull sculpted kit. The movement in this kit, both in horse and Custer with his torso turned while riding at full gallop are simply magnificent. I've got it on the shelf, build and primed.

2. Andreas: 'The Shootist'...which is actually Lee Marvin as Liberty Valance in 'The Man who shot Liberty Valance', not John Wayne in The Shootist.
Got it done for about 75%

3. EMI: 'Cowboy 1860'. Great looking cowboy wearing a duster.
Reminds me of the band of 'lawmen' from Clint Eastwoods 'Pale Rider' or maybe he's more of a Charley Waite from 'Open Range' Look a Like.
Hope to stumble across it someday, but with so much on the shelf, I really can't justify a purchase yet.

4. Andreas: 'Prove it'. I just love the stance and arrogant way this gunfighter stares you down.
With two front worn Mexican Loop hosters You can just 'feel him' calling you out.

5. Andreas: 'Chuck Wagon'...Just look at it..Need I say more?

I think my top 5 (in no order) would be:

Elite's 70mm Highland Clansman by Raul Garcia Latorre (I have this kit but haven't started it yet - the face and the many intricate folds in the clothing are brilliant)

Kirin's 120mm Highland Clansman by Mike Good (again I have this but haven't started it - amazingly lifelike in an interesting pose, sitting down against a hill)

Kirin's 120mm Leutnant 11th Dragoon Regt by Derek Hansen (I've only seen pictures of this but it's the kit I want to get hold of most)

Hornet's 1/35 Desert Rat by Roger Saunders (a tiny classic, simple but very realistic - really enjoyed painting this)

Tiny Troopers' 90mm Colonel Douglas by Mike French (never seen this figure in the flesh but Bill Horan's version is fantastic and I'd love to paint it)

I don't know. I would say, every kit I paint.
It is so hard, there are so many great kit's. If i give a kit a number in my top 5 list, there are others who shoud be on that list to.

Marc

Hi all
not going to list 5 but 2 that often don't feature on lists..... both 54 mm Elite kits.
1. Mongolian Archer 1380 (AV/54.18) sculpted by Anton Volgin. Spectacular level of detail throughout this kit from the top of the hemet to the toe of the boots.
2. Celtic Warrior 3 C BC (RG/54.08) sculpted by Raul Latorre. Unlike most kits of bare chested celts the anatomy and musculature on this is utterly convincing and not overdone.
Cheers
Derek
