Being, as I am, in the privileged position of having nothing on the go right now (and with the bliss of a gradually clearing head, after walking into a light fitting and rattling my brain in its box), the next project is in the pondering stage.
It'll be a 1/48 Nieuport 11 (watch the "Lounge" for occasional pics and ramblings), after which, this caught my eye:

And set off a train of thought.
Fortunately, I have two sets of ICM WW1 figures, 1914 French Zouaves & 1915 Italians, both of which have diorama potential. Maybe 2025 will be a trip into the Western or Italian fronts, with much groundwork...
What are people planning next?

You can't beat a WWI vignette or diorama IMO (but I may be biased.......;))

My next big project will be based on the Tommy's War "Gassed" set:

I'll be doing them walking through a communication trench with a couple of additional figures. I'm just finishing off a 1/32 Fokker Eindecker and after that I'll be starting on this project plus a few other WWI standalone figures.

I'm off on holiday in a couple of weeks and I want to take something to potter at in the evenings so I think that'll be my project. I've got some interesting figures I'm considering but I also printed this off from Cults and I'm tempted to try to paint it using scale75 artistcolours to get better at using them. I also want to try using a broader colour pallet so he may turn out to be a blue alien.

I'm often torn at which bit is my favourite part of a big project with multiple figures. I love the planning stage; working out who goes where and in what order I'm going to do things. Colours, palettes and references, etc. Either that or the final bit before I declare, "Right, that's it - done."

Mine is shifting an assortment of WIPs (in various stages of completion ranging from only primed & part assembled to "almost-there-just-need-that-final-push") off the Shelf of Shame and into the cabinet finished, which I've promised myself I'll do before I crack open anything else unstarted.

In the meantime ..... I continue buying figures  .

...and I thought that was just me!

From my recent orders

Would love to tackle this Henry V version but I just know doing the heraldry is out of my league
So maybe this one instead, I can do a white cross reasonably well

Dear Ver, go for it. I know how intimidating it can feel. Especially if you don't feel confident enough to do something to a higher standard than you think you can get to. If you don't try...take it in bite size chunks - you never know. I have figures in my stash myself that are in the "I'll wait 'till I'm good enough" category, so I'm guilty of this myself. I just don't like people talking themselves down.

BTW, those are excellent figures, actually. They were not on my figure radar - they are now! (y)

I agree. Start with simple coats of arms; if you are methodical and plan the painting, it's not that difficult.
The lions, shells, fish etc are surprisingly straightforward.

I just about managed this level of complexity! I was thinking about painting heraldry, I have the same issue that I’m not convinced I could manage it. It’s not the shapes so much as the symmetry that worries me. One thing I did consider was using my vinyl cutter to cut out the basic shapes (let’s say lions), spraying the lions colour, masking them off and then spraying the field. Then I could do highlights etc by hand.

Now I need to find a knight!
