Does anyone have any information about White Models. Historex stock and sell their figures, but the links on the images of the figures are not workin'. I've done a search on their name but has yielded no results.

From what i've seen over on Historex they do mainly 90mm figures, and from the thumbnails displayed, they look the business.

Hi Roy
Do you mean this one? I like it very much and it was my first try with oil.

Thanks guys.

This half - armoured samurai is a very impressive figure.

I remember, I once painted Hinchcliffe's 120mm samurai w/ bow for a friend, it was such a superbly formed and well sculpted figure. It had yoroi patterned box armour and was completely cast in lead. I painted this figure 13 - 14 years ago, i'm still on the look out for it, but with no luck so far.
I know Hinchcliffe are no more, but I think they're moulds and stuff were bought by another company, but I don't know who.

Paul I think their moulds were bought by a company called 'Calder Craft'...they make boats mainly...as far as I know they are not putting the Ray Lamb Taisho moulds to use any more...but you might find an old one around, although castings from this company of the samurai are very disappointing compared to the highly detailed early pieces.

Ulrich...that's the one.

Roy.

Thanks Roy, doesn't this sound like they don't have the prototype figure parts anymore and cannot make any new moulds?!

Yeah, i'm pretty sure thats the one - Ray Lamb, Taisho. It did need a lot of grindin' and cuttin' away of some lead to make the box armour sit correctly on his hips. It sure was a beautiful piece though, and really heavy too. I seem to remember this posed a big problem when paintin' it.
Way back then, some fourteen years ago Hinchcliffe were already out of business.
