Who painted this figure?

Tommi is correct, it was a Spannish painter. His name escapes me but I believe this was only one of his FOUR golds at the competition.

Now I know it's 54mm it's an even bigger WOW! I thought this was the 90mm 'Michaels Miniatures' piece. A well deserved Gold.

Hell's teeth. That is unreal.

I might as well just pack it in now!!

Admittedly depressing in the extreme, especially when you are about to start the same figgie. Lynne's friend does not get to see the euro one so I can preserve my reputation among my circle as amazing figure modeller-extraordinaire! I think he used acrylics so I may use oils to explain the difference in "style.";)

I've had this figure for many moons but i just have a wee look inside the box as it's a daunting paint job ,but after seeing this rendition i'll stop having a wee look in the box as it can just stay there.

This is stunning work and 54mm !!!
I had a look on the blogspot and seeing that on a 54.... no need of a200mm bust to express something... plain old 54

Hi

And just to be different, for me although from the neck down this is a fantastic paint job that is light years ahead of what I can do, even on a good day, but for me the painting of the face lets this figure down, just look how flat the lighting is and how pale the skin tone is and then look how dark the shading is on the cheeks, this is just wrong and for me spoils this excellent figure.

Just the way I see it.

Paul - have you been freeze-dried or doing hard time?

High contrast, various shades of shocking pink & deep purple and the "coal miner" look are all the rage in face-painting now. You need to "get with the programme" my son, LOL!!

(Overall it is a VERY nice paint though, especially in 54)

54mm!!! I'm just off to build a fire with paint and paint brushes. That is incredible

I often get that same "why-do-I-bother" feeling when I come on here and see some of the awe-inspiring brushsmithery on display.

It can be inspirational as well though. That's the flip side.

Hi Paul I've seen this up close and the contrast is much more subtle than in the photo.
Also I'm pretty sure that in Tudor nobility men wore makeup to 'whiten' their skin to emphasise that they
did not do outdoor labour. And that is definitely my impression of what the painter was trying, successfully in my view, to acheive.
Cheers

In addition to that at this stage of his life Henry would hardly have been the picture of good health anyway
