If ever there's some sort of storm brewing out in the Atlantic it always seems
to hit St.Ives first before quickly blowing up country.
Forty-odd years ago they shot some sequences here for a creaky old movie called
'Raise the Titanic'. One particular scene had to feature a cemetery, so several
hundred plaster 'gravestones' were planted on a grassy hill in the town and as
the weather was warm dry and calm, a powerful wind machine was set up to
create an atmospheric 'blow'. Before they could shoot a single millimetre, though,
a storm hit and the following morning saw the wind machine blown off a cliff and
smashed on the beach below and all the 'headstones' floating out in the bay
