Guys,

I presume this project involve some changes and sculpting on the head and helmet.... so I'm posting it here...

Lately I've been working on a 120mm resin Samurai figure... and it's currently almost finish painting. Here I show the images I've captured at the earlier WIP stages.

The kit I've picked for this project is from HOFI a checs manufacturer. I've ordered this figure online from RedLancers.com

The box art

The resin parts break down into main torso (sculpted with head), tighs, 2 arms, 2 legs, a stool covered with animal skin (tiger according to the box-art), 2 parts of bamboo for the banner pole, part of "sai Hai" (paper strips use as commanding baton).

The head Conversion:
first of all I personally donot like the original tall helmet, and the eyes was sculpted too big and off-shape to me... So I've "scrap-off" the eyes and start the conversion on the helmet by cutting it short shown in Pict A.

Pict B and C showing the new set of eyes sculpted with epoxy putty and cut off original visor.

Pict D, and re-shaping the helmet, added new pair of "wings" on the helmet.

Pict E and F new visor added with plastic card and putty added on the joint, note the helmet top also started it's new shape.

Pic G is the new helmet completed sculpting.

Lastly H shows the temparory crest added for dry fit.

Stay tune for my next post on the painted figure.

Comment and critics are welcome...

just want to ask you think what are you going to do with the "BEAR" ? that pretending to be a tiger ??

Hi CPTan,

the conversion turned out great and are great improovment on the figure. HOFI figures need to be fixed usually and this one seems to be from the better ones, in exchange you get interesting subjects.
Look forward to see the painting process!

Thanks
