A Fixture
I was recommended to try the Hawk Miniatures range of busts and really pleased I did, the first one I decided on was the British Light Dragoon 1815 which is sold under their Black Eagle banner.
It comes in 4 parts, head with attached Shako, this does annoy me as the peak makes it difficult for me personally to paint the eyes, I just wish headgear would be sculpted and moulded separately, but I digress, the main body, the Shako plume and a length of lead type wire for the Shako cords, there is also a nice double sided A5 sheet with coloured pictures of the finished bust from 6 angles and on the reverse some info on the Lt. Dragoons.
So here we go, first the box.
The face painted using my usual oil based Artist's oils and starting to block in the basic colours on the Shako and uniform using Vallejo Colour and docrafts Artiste Acrylic paints, I decided on the facing colour for the 12th Light Dragoons, as I like yellow even if it quite difficult to get an even cover even with a flat brush.
Now the rest of the basic colours blocked in.
And the rear view.
To be continued.
