OK guys,
This is my another figure conversion for our Malaysia Independence day Group Build show 2008 - Kapitan Yap Ah Loy.
Introduction... This chap was once written in our history book as "Founder of Kuala Lumpur", but now somehow our official history scholars revised some actual fact and drop the title from him.
Anyway history never lie. the fact is before Yap Ah Loy arrive, Kuala Lumpur was a mud pool with a few Chinese miners scatter around. Indead the Malay Sultan granted Yap Ah Loy the permission to further "develop" the place into a more organised and cilvilaised "town"... Under Yap Ah Loy "ruling" and management, Kuala Lumpur blossom to become the center of commerce then.
1870 Selangor civil war, Yap Ah Loy join forces with the Malay Sultan and saved Kual Lumpur from it's enemy. For the first time Malay and Chinese join forces as brothers and won the civil war. Yap Ah Loy decisive victory at Kuala Lumpur in 1873 proved to be the turning point of the war and left him in a strong political position.
Kuala Lumpur laid in waste after the civil war... Yap AH Loy ruling and development, managed to keep peace among 10,000 Chinese in town with the aid of only 6 policemen. He introduced the first steam pump into Malaya. He developed much of the land of Kuala Lumpur and owned over a quarter of all the buildings in town. Set up the first Chinese school... Kuala Lumpur developed into the center of commerce then. And now Kuala Lumpur stands as the capital of our country.
Regardless of what our current "official" scholar stated, I feel proud of Kapitan Yap Ah Loy on his efforts and contribution to my country.
below are some of the reference links to the great man.
