Thanks chaps.

Nigel - Thanks, I think the approach could have real potential. It's surprisingly straightforward to manipulate the 'mannequin' in blender, even at this stage the poses are more 'lifelike than I think I could manage using wire etc in this scale, particularly where the clothing is close fitting - I think getting muscle under tight hose is probably beyond me but here it seems pretty easy so far. I was thinking the other day that with a couple of tweaks this could be easily adapted to other periods - just remove the halberd, bow and knife and people could replace them with whatever they fancied. It would also be really easy to adjust the scales. If could worked on re-sculpting/tweaking faces it would be even better.

A little work on clothes tonight; a stool wielding archer looking like a rugby player on a night out and a Landsknecht in rather ragged doublet. At this point I’m starting to wish I’d removed their heads earlier. IMG_1654.jpegIMG_1652.jpeg

This is really interesting, and looks like it's coming along great, definitely can't wait to see how it turns out👍

Cheers chaps, I approached this whole project with a degree of trepidation but it’s proving great fun.

That said, I braved the icy streets and went to the pub last night so I didn’t have time for much, I did add a set of billowy sleeves to my first archer. They are ‘flapping’ more than heavy wool would I think but it was a conscious choice to maintain the sense of movement. They aren’t perfect but I’ve got 4 more of these sleeves to do so if I feel I have the ‘knack’ by the end I’ll re-do this pair. It reminds me of my grandfather’s comment that at the end of any job you have the skills and tools you needed at the start.

It’s hard to photograph but here he is:

And here’s the garment I’m copying:

I didn't think it was so small!! Well done, the achievement doesn't seem obvious to me and you're doing really well. I'll continue to follow with great pleasure.

That's looking pretty good I reckon, especially the undercut on the short sleeve. I have too often looked with great trepidation at my projects on the occasions I have decided to sit at the bench after a few drinks!

Cheers Simon
