While Wladimir Semjonovich's head is allowed to dry in dust-free packaging, I started with his body today.

Our friend will wear a Jeans shirt, which he often and gladly did!

I want to go there ...:



However, I have never before painted jeans fabric, which is why I start with a piece on the back for safety's sake!

For this I have taken these colors ...

... and the back part just once normally painted - with lights and shadows of course ...:


Then came the real problem:

This typical texture of the denim fabric somehow wants to be painted ...:


I've taken four straight and relatively hard bristle brushes ...


... and - every brush for a different color mix! - trying to imitate the denim texture with short very hard and strictly vertical strokes.

Of course I took lights and shadows with me!

This is how the back of the "Jeans shirt" looks like now ...:



What do you mean? Can we accept that ..?

Denim effects certainly not easy ...shirt looks good but I think you should push the highs/ lines more to texture it ...lighten the material for a worn denim material

Lighten a bit..especially at edges...and almost like panel lines on an aircraft model darken the stitched seams..

So - I have painted the shoulder part with it, for there is the brightest light on the back.

I think, now I have it! It certainly looks like a denim shirt ...:

O.K. then , butter up your best friend (no not that one) with love, dinner, and maybe a song if you can sing. But the hard facts are your study pics don't look like worn denim but your paintwork looks like you're headed in the right direction. But then again, if he's a real denim man; I bet he's got a shirt some where in his wardrobe that's that's gonna match whatever paint job you pull off on that shirt. That's my "dumber than a jar of dirt opinion". But I must say the paintwork on the face is looking great.

For me the shirt looks good , I think it will look even better once all is done , of course it's good Wayne expresses his opinion as well ...be I am too young to remember denim ...Oh how I wish !!

Agree with Wayne's comment ref face ..looks great and together with torso will bring it together
