UPDATES AS OF APRIL 22, 2017

Hi all—We are only 75 days out now from World Model Expo Chicago 2017. The excitement is building, and we’ll have quite a few announcements for you in the weeks to come. Right now, we want to update you on the following:

**** Expo needs you! We have created a Volunteer Sign-Up Form, posted on our Web site and linked below, and we would very much appreciate your giving us several hours of your time over the weekend to join the folks who are working hard to make this a world-class show! No heavy lifting, and your help is greatly appreciated. Sign up now via our Web site by clicking here: http://www.we2017chicago.com/volunteer-to-help-at-expo/

**** The Ben Komets Seminar and Demonstration on Saturday July 8 will now take place from 9 to 11 a.m. (the time has shifted half an hour later and the presentation has been expanded to two hours). One of the masters of fantasy modeling, Ben will present a stunning multi-media session on “How to Paint Human Skin Tones with Acrylics.” There is no extra charge if you already purchased a ticket. If you haven’t signed up, do it now, because space is going fast! And while you’re there, sign up for any of the other seminars you’d like to attend. Click here now: http://www.we2017chicago.com/register-for-seminars/

**** You can also sign up now for A Guided Tour of the Art Institute of Chicago from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday July 6. World Expo Committee member Joe Berton and his wife Gloria Groom, chair of European painting and sculpture at the Art Institute, have arranged for Expo attendees to get a guided tour of this incredible institution. They and additional curators will give you a guided tour highlighting the Art Institute’s collection, including the Impressionist paintings and the newly reinstalled galleries of medieval art, arms, and armor. The museum also holds the collection of the Thorne rooms, with over 80 miniature rooms of astonishing beauty and detail. The tour will last approximately one hour, with the remainder of the time available for attendees to explore more of the museum’s treasures on their own, until it closes at 8 p.m. Admission is limited, so sign up now! (Located at 111 S. Michigan Ave., the Art Institute is a 10-minute walk directly north from the Hilton Hotel. Tour attendees should gather at 5:45 p.m. on the outdoor stairs by the lion statue on Michigan Avenue.) Click here to sign up now: http://www.we2017chicago.com/art-institute-tour-chicagosty…/

**** Many of you have been asking, and details are now set for the Chicago-Style Social and Meet and Greet taking place after the tour of the Art Institute on Thursday, July 6, from 8 to 10 p.m. Join us at Exchequer Restaurant and Pub, a legendary local hang-out for artists, actors, and comedians at 226 S. Wabash Ave., for a taste of Chicago-style pizza and a complimentary beer or soft drink to start your Expo experience among friends new and old. Dress is casual and admission is free, but expect snacks, not dinner. (The bounty of dinner options near the Hilton can be found on our site by clicking here.) More info on Thursday’s events can be found by clicking here now: http://www.we2017chicago.com/art-institute-tour-chicagosty…/

**** We also have gotten questions about admission for non-exhibitors. This will not be available in advance. The charge is $10 at the door for the entire weekend; free for children under 12 and active military with ID.

**** Finally, remember to register your exhibits in advance to take advantage of the early discounted exhibitor rate and save some time at the door when you arrive at the show. A reminder: If you register now or have already registered, 11 days before the start of the show you will receive a link to a form to fill out the titles and relevant information for all of the pieces you’ll display in each of the categories in which you’ve registered. You should print out these sheets and bring them to Expo! They will serve as your receipt at the door and you will need to display them with your exhibits in order to have your work judged. The link to register can be found by clicking here now: http://www.we2017chicago.com/wexregister/

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you in Chicago soon! Until then, happy modeling!
