I have been working on this chap for a few months now : a Trumpeter from the Gloucestershire Hussars, Palestine 1918. He's called Stan Carter, he came from Stroud in Gloucestershire, and in later life he taught me to play the trumpet.
There are several questions about the uniform , since there are almost no photos of this unit around.
But I'm working on the " best guess " priciple.
All the items are as near as possible made like the originals, and stow on the horse in the original way.
I have a few more things to add... mostly very small items to go in pockets and wallets :~

Tony ,
Great stuff , and what an amazing amount of details you have included , love all the equiptment , the saddle looks a work of art especially .

Are you putting it all together once you have added the final touches , a great tribute to the uniit and the man himself .

Be nice to se how you actually produce all the equiptmet etc (WIP?)

Thanks for posting

Got him all loaded up and ready to go now...

I need a rather bigger desert to pose him on !

As to how it's all assembled, these things need a little planning.

The brasswork like the bugle and trumpet , and a lot of the buckles, I first modelled , then had lost-wax cast in brass by Beechcraft of Birmingham. The sword , messtin , & various buckles are my own pewter castings.
The jacket is made by a 1/6th specialist uniform supplier called Battlegear Toys, the rest of his uniform by me from suitable fabrics found at charity shops.
The saddle ( invisible under all that clobber ) is made by Cesar Dubon , and is splendid .

He needs few changes still : this Regiment is very badly served with photos. He need brass shoulder titles, and a helpful friend has pointed out that , as a Royal Regiment, he ought to have red/blue/yellow trumpet cords.
There is also a question mark as to whether he should actually be armed with a rifle and bandolier, since other trumpeters seem to be, despite the pistol being official.

I shall do a much more detailed article eventually on some of the 1/6th forums, and I'll post a link here for those interested.
