Hello:

WW1 busts on the market seem to be fairly limited, so I tried my hand on this a couple of weeks ago. When completed, the bust will represent an Oberleutnant of the Wurttemberg Mountain Battalion at Caporetto, Italy, October 1917. The bust is approximately 180-200mm and critiques and comments would be much appreciated.

Regards

Dave

Thanks, Anders; your comment means a lot to me.

Gary: I actually like doing the painting more than the sculpting and I kinda got ahead of my self. Besides, the bust is supposed to be a particular historical figure and I was trying to see how close I could get, so yes, I am scratch building and painting at the same time. I'm really trying to work out the kinks in this sculpting thing (this is #2).

Regards

Dave

Dave, the face looks very nice. I have to admit, the ears look a tad "soft" to me. That is to say, lacking a bit in detail. Be careful handling the head now that it's painted. Keep us posted!

Dave, the face looks very good. I concur with Jay about the ears.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this bust finished.

Cheers
