Tamiya’s 1/35 figures are now 3D printed from models wearing authentic kit from the originals they’re supposed to represent, that’s why the quality has come forward in leaps & bounds since the 1970s. Also Dragon’s Gen2 figures are really good (particularly their equipment); sometimes all that’s needed to lift their quality to that of resin figures is the addition of a Hornet 1/35 head.

I gave up on Tamiya 1/35th figures years ago as the more detailed resin offerings came on the market. This shows they warrant another look. In addition to showing what can now be done with a current Tamiya plastic figure with superb painting, I once again applaud the photography.

Thank you for your comment. Many of the previous Tamiya figures were not good, but all of the recent products are good. But when it comes to detail, resin figures are better.I added details by referring to Alpine figures.
Incredible skill on this one. Unbelievable how you get the eyes like this at this scale. It would be impressive even at 1/16. Congrats.

Many thanks Adrian!100% my brushwork.(y)

Wonderful work !
Thank you!

Sorry... I just remembered what I had forgotten. As you may already know, Tamiya has already released the WWI British Infantry Set.Of course, this product is a 3D scan figure.

Tomoyo arigatō Futoshi San.
I’ve ordered a cheap magnifier so will do some experiments with this.
I have this Tamiya set but did not realise it was 3D scanned.
Does not have same quality as latest Germans you show here though.
Plan to paint a couple to also test what can be achieved with plastic figures & my techniques today.

Oh, they do, Mike, have done so for years. Check out their 1/35 armor kit line. Tamiya always includes one or two figures with an armor or vehicle kit, and they have some sets of figures as well. A lot of us started out painting Tamiya's kit figures. But then many move on to resin and white metal, with crisper details. And people look back on Tamiya's more basic figures and say, "Oh, they're no good, no detail," etc, etc. To me, they're like Historex' or Airfix' kit figures. They are what you make of them.Prost!

Thanks Brad - I began my figure modelling on Tamiya’s SAS Jeep crew decades ago.
Will be interesting to have a crack at them again many decades later.
Quality of these latest Germans is superb, but not my subject of choice.
Hence call out for British subjects.
Will share my practice here.

Doitashimashite Mike San. I look forward to your British.:)

I am speechless. Even words like -outstanding - awesome - amazing can not express what I am feeling. when I see that excellent work. Every little detail is done with the highest quality in this scale I've ever seen.
Keep on doing figures like that. I am your fan.

Hello RRR, Thank you for comment. This work exhausted me, but your kind words filled my fuel tank.
I can't complete a lot of the work because of the slow job, but I will continue to do my best to make a better works.Thank you again!!
Really impressive work on just 54mm (y)

Thank you so much.;)

Incredible work, and the flesh tones are spooky real too, for 1/35th scale, gee wizzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Ah, to young again and have that set of "Eagle" eyes we all use to have, HA! But, we didn't have the skill yet, that came with time, as the eyes began to fade....................... Impressive, to say the least, and I love the reader glasses magnifier, might have to check on that myself. I would have to say this is the first time I recall ever seeing such detailed eyes in 1/35th. Looks like you just blew that door open Futoshi, congrats! Now we got our work cut our for us Gents,........... back to work! lol. ;)

Cheers, Ski.

P.S. Futoshi or Kiwi Mike, please add a link for these magnifiers, I'm not seeing what I need. Thx in advance!

Thank you for the comment Steve Ski.I bought a magnifier (my avatar:) ) at a bookstore near my house. However, I searched and found that it was handled by amazon Japan, so I will display the link.
In Japan, 10 years ago, AFV modeler Makoto Takaishi used a microscope to paint 1/35 scale figures with ultra-precision and surprised many people(He just recently created the sensation again).

Since then, the use of expensive microscopes has become a trend among Japanese modelers.I was inspired by Master Takaishi, like so many people, but I didn't feel like buying a microscope (I was not confident that I could use the microscope successfully). So I wondered if a cheaper magnifier could replace the microscope. And I found this magnifier.
Makoto Takaishi is currently using a stereomicroscope with a maximum magnification of 90.I would not recommend this cheap magnifier to anyone who wants to do the same with him.I'm not going to pursue any more resolution, so I won't be buying a microscope as I have in the past.I surrender to Master Takaishi!!!:LOL::LOL:

Thanks so much for the links Futoshi, greatly appreciated. I am trying to find this on the US amazon, I'll keep looking.

Wow, impressive work by Makoto. I would certainly be hard pressed to attempt such work as the Master, but you are wise to bow out on the stereomicroscope. If I tried to purchase one for my model bunker, the Mrs. would have me sleeping with the dogs, lol. Keep up the incredible work, it inspires me to keep improving.

Cheers, Ski.
