This is my first 54mm WW2 topic. I need some (oil) painting advice in mixing the Khaki tone for a Russian gymnastiorka. I have seen photos showing a range from a light yellow khaki to a slightly darker khaki with a hint of green in it. It is the latter I am looking for. I was planning to push some paint around tomorrow (Burnt Umber + Mars Yellow + Titanium White and a dab of Olive Green) and see what I come up with. However, if anyone has already tried it, any suggestions for base/shade/highlight would be appreciated.

Hey Paul, how's it going?

Do you have one of Shep's books which list his mixes for some of the common uniform colours? If you add in a touch more yellow and black (or reduce the red) and use a little less white in the base mix you should get pretty much what you're looking for.

Alternatively mix the colour exactly as per Shep's guidelines and then green it up with a touch of added green paint - Chromium Oxide Green or Olive Green would probably work fine.
