It does look much better close up where the shading especially in the white areas are more noticeable.

Thanks very much guys! Like Ray said, I think it does look better in real life than my lame photos show, which makes your comments all the more generous. For you Stoffy, this is a figure from Alexandros Miniatures and is 1/24 or 75 mm in scale and size.
