Hi all,

I felt i was working on the previous bust for too long and wanted a new perspective. So decided to repaint this bust i was working on halfway.

The original paintjob was rather flat and tunic overly yellow (too much yellow ochre).
2 pics for for a quick before after.

Spent the last 2 evenings touching up the face and tunic/helmet. Glazed in some blue violet on the lower half of the bust and helmet for the 1st pass of shadows. All done in JS acrylics.

Will post more as i go along :)

Managed to squeeze in a hour last night. Drew in the lines for the tunic and some glaze to the shadow areas.

I am thinking of adding some green at various parts of the tunic (maybe around the shadow areas) to bring out the tropical olive colors.

Helmet done. Some light chipping on helmet. This was done by dragging the helmet in a box of fine sand (collect from a playground near my house, its actually beach sand) to simulate the windy and sandy dessert the DAK fought it. First time trying this method and i like the amount of control afforded by this method :)

You can also sand over other parts of the helmet to achieve this effect, which i did on some parts of the helmet.

I was wondering if the same can be done with some AFV or perhaps done with some sand blasting equipment with the pressure dialed way down :p

Looking sharp! Your gradations of shadows and highlights on flesh and fabric are very well rendered (y)!! Looking forward to seeing him done.
