I've recently started to paint 1/10 scale busts from the Great War, inspired by work seen at model shows and other on-line media. A friend sent me one of Manfred von Richthofen that came with a kit, and I practiced on it to try some work with acrylics which I'd switched to after using oils & enamels for years. This particular bust is from Young Miniatures, done in acrylics, except for his Lewis gun which was rubbed with Uschi-brand steel metal polishing powder. Although I'd recently gone through Mike Butler's new book, I still need more practice with blending, texturing and giving more contrast to my work. One always hopes to improve with my next one! Cheers.

Looking good Gary, I use oils and have dabbled with acrylics over the years to try and shift over but I just can't manage to make them work for me, so what you have done with this piece shows that you are well on your way , looking forward to seeing your progress with your next subject.

Hi Gary

Nice version of a well sculpted piece , like the fleshtones and the variety of "Kharki"
