OK, lets see how we get on with this.

I did start on the head a couple of days ago and got absolutely nowhere with it. They eyes were a bit oddly sculpted, and the limitations of my technique meant that I couldn't sort out the problems with paint. This is something that happens to me quite often, but fortunately we have Reedees:

This head has a lot more character in my opinion and fits very well with the rest of the parts. There will be no heroics with the US flag patch - that will be taken care of with an Archer decal.

I'll start with the head.....

Hi Peter

Good to see this from your bench ...popular subject

Nice to see the head replaced with one from Steve

If you wish do share the colours you use when painting ( post pics of bottles if you a )

Never used a transfer so look forward to see that

Following with interest

Enjoy the benchtime

Nice one Peter I will be following this with interest and yes we all encounter the weird or odd eye/eyes problem regularly and I really don't think that when we have parted with the hard earned cash (Figures and Busts have become expensive items) that we should be faced with any sculpting or casting issues, many of our suppliers have now set the bar high and you know that a quality item will arrive in the post but unfortunately there is still some very rough stuff being pumped out that involves lots of prep or replacement parts and that kills the motivation to continue with the piece but fire on and lets see how you transform this bust.

Many thanks for looking in chaps.

The head issue is, I think, more of a personal one for me and to do with how I paint. I find that the eyes in particular have to be spot on otherwise I get into a terrible mess. I agree that the idea is to buy from the best manufacturers, but even then, as in this case, I can have problems.

And talking of quality issues, I've just received a 120mm figure from Shapeways, which was 3D printed to order, and it is one of the worst things I've ever seen. I ordered it as an experiment, and thought at £18 it was worth a gamble, but now I know - never again.

Paint wise, I use Vallejo Model Colour Acrylics exclusively and my brush of choice is the Pro Arte Prolene Plus Series 7 0000.
