Amazing work, Tony.
I think it was a wonderful work.
The fresh tone and a gradation of clothes are very beautiful.
I congratulate completion.

Hi Tony,

This is a great version mate, like others I like the flesh tones! I think colour scheme really works, it makes a focal point of the flesh tones together with the bronze. Fantastic mate! You should be very proud!!!

Carl

Hello Mitsutaka. Thank you very much for your comments and your encouragement. I greatly appreciate it and I'm very pleased you like my bust.

G'day Carl, I am quite happy with this bust. I'm always experimenting with new techniques and materials to get the most out of my limited talent, and I think the application of oil washes over acrylics really suits my painting style. I'm looking forward to having a go at one of your beautiful sculpts soon. Thanks for your encouragement and support mate.

Hi Tony,

Credit where credit is due mate! You have done great job!

I used to paint exclusively in enamels years ago very similar to Bill Horans technique. I also used oil washes over the piece to give it depth. It seems a similar way of approaching it. Washes over an established base coat. I found oils have a better covering ability than acrylics when used as a glaze.

But this a great piece mate, Well done!

Are you bringing it over to Folkestone?

Carl

Thanks Marcel. Although it's not supposed to be a bust of Alexander; its Colin Farrell playing Alexander. I'm pleased you like him.

G'day Carl, no I probably won't bring him to Folkestone. He's now mounted on a heavy plinth made from limestone and the weight is too much to pack. I'll probably only bring my Monash bust. Thanks once again for your kind words - you make me blush.

Great job on this bust, well done Tony, I really like this bust may have to get one for myself
Cheers
Al

G'day Alan, thanks mate. I'd be very interested to see how you'd go painting this bust.

Thanks David, I greatly appreciate your comments.

G'day Jamie, good to hear from you mate. I'm glad you like him.

Great work, Tony.

I think the best compliment I can give is that I didn't like this figure until
you painted it. The reason is that I thought the studio version of the fig
looked more like a young Lloyd Bridges than Colin Farrell. Your version,
especially post-stubble, popped it to life.

I wish the bust's hair was windblown and feathered from the front, just
like the reference phot you posted. I think that would have drawn the
attention away from the hair. I think you did a good job of pulling the
visual focus back to the face.

Again, great job and nice photos. I've had a very enjoyable journey through
this post. Nice to see all the positive and appreciative feedback as well.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your positive comments and your compliments. I can certainly see the Lloyd Bridges resemblance!! I'm pleased you've gained a new appreciation for this bust. The movie "Alexander" may have been a disappointment, but the bust was not.
