Hi Guys

I agree with Jason's comments , it will be a great sculpt and will be popular no doubt .....would like to see some Napoleonic subjects personally .

Why this subject well it's been said before ...it will sell simple as that

Just my 2 penny's worth

Nap

PS perhaps not the best artwork on this from Youngs

OK, I'm going to be the first complainer. First, I have no doubt this is an excellently sculpted and cast figure. But again, another German, and SS, tank commander? Between those and MG-34/42 gunners, I'm not sure which horse has been beaten the most. Yes I know Germans sell. I have TONS of them. I personally won't be getting any more. well, maybe, but you know...

There are so many historical subjects, both military and civilian, that would be so nice to see. Typing this I thought of something like Amelia Earhart, Charles Linbergh, Capt. Smith of the Titanic, Neil Armstrong, the list could just go on. I'm coming from an American background, I'm sure our British, French, German and all other nationalities could come up with their own list as well. Surely a few of those would be just as popular and well received? Maybe not, I dunno, but surely we already have a nice(lifetime) supply of German SS tank commanders and machine gunners, don't we???

I agree wholeheartedly! So disappointing to see the same tired subject re-hashed over and over and over again.

Come on now fellas... you can obviously see that the cigarette he's smoking is a different brand than the last one that came out. That should be enough for you to add it to your collection :):):)
I agree completely with all the comments and on another base, is it just me or are we seeing more and more fantasy stuff on FP when it comes to new offerings? Perhaps our time has past in the hobby and the new kids on the block want something with more horns and swords. Luckily there's a few busts laid away in the storehouse of kits that will keep me busy for at least a year or two :):):)

Cheers from windy Cumbria and keep painting!

I was going to mention that at one time, I thought Nuts Planet and Life Miniatures would carry the torch of "different". Well they have, but in a far different fashion than I expected. I like sci-fi and Fantasy and do quite a bit of it these days. I think they are doing some interesting stuff, but I haven't seen a historical piece out of them for a while. Maybe I missed it.

This rather earnest looking gentleman is ruining his health with his nicotine addiction! Oh, and by the way, his friendly superiors might not approve of the lovely pinkish piping on his nice hat. By the time of the Normandy battles the standard waffenfarbe piping for this fellow's club was white for all and everybody, just a detail of course. But he will sell nonetheless...
Luckily for some of us, the smaller continental manufacturers are more adventurous in their choice of subject!:):):)

Some interesting comments from the chaps who paint WW2 stuff and particularly Germans - I don't - however many manufacturers in the hobby seem fixated by the same subjects and in Young's case, their subjects always seem to have 'heroic' or even 'pretty boy' features. I think as someone who does Ancient and Medieval figures, this is why I am almost exclusively now buying only Russian made stuff (Altores,Mercury, Medieval Forge etc. ) as well as Hugo's RP Models simply because they are doing all sorts of different subjects but to the same period. Also, their faces are so full of character and actually look like ancient and medieval soldiers probably would have been (warts and all) and not like they just stepped off a Paris catwalk whilst wearing Lorica Segmentata amour or carrying a great helm under their arm.

I'm sure this will sell but for how long can companies keep 'playing it safe' ? Even the greats like Pegaso can't fall into this category for ever without inevitable consequences.

Agreed with JsonB, but not in regards the sculpture and even with the painting that I found terrible. The worse Y M paint I ever saw.

I tend to agree, its getting a bit boring.

However, I can't help but wonder if being that this and other Asian companies are firstly catering to the wants of their larger customer base. That being Asia. I have poked around through blogs, forums, websites, facebook, etc... and it seems to me that our friends in the far east really like all things WW2 German. I would be really happy to see some busts/figures of combatants from the war of 1812, the Mexican War, and how about a WW1 American tanker. Perhaps when it comes to subject selection, those of us from Europe and the US are on the short end of the stick.

Have to say I do like the paintwork quite a bit.

Although I have no objection to another well-sculpted german subject, I am no fan of the 'teutonic hero' style. If there have to be more germans, I would very much like them to depict weary, tired and defeated subjects, rather than the stubborn, pretty propaganda-style faces of which there are so many already.
