Hi! This is my first post on this forum. This is my second painted 54mm scale figure. I started with Perry Miniatures figures, but I think I prefer the larger size figures. Przebor

He is really good for a second figure, stepping up from wargame scale to display figures is a challenge.
Only negative issue I see is the very "gritty" texture you have developed over everything. It kind of works on the clothing, but is wrong on his face.

What paints & primer are you using? I assume oils from the shine but did you use a gesso?

Hi, I used the "mig ammo Titans Hobby" primer. I did something wrong. I didn't know what to do with this ugly texture. I will use mr. hobby surfacer. I paint acrylic Vallejo and citadel. Varnish is satin, but fresh. Thanks!

Agree with these comments , well done on this figure

I think most painters won't put a satin varnish over full figure , perhaps on leather straps

You have a option of stripping it and reprinting of course

Look forward to seeing more from you

Happy benchtime

considering that's your second figure looks very good... be happy for the result and do another figure:)

Yes, learn from this one and on to the next one.
I can only suggest you test your primers on some plastic card (or something non absorbent) to make sure you don't have pigment grains separating from the medium. If in doubt chuck away what you have as you can't fix it once it goes.
And dilute everything before applying it to the figure, bit of a cliche but several thin coats really are better than a single rich coat.

Thank you! Next time I will test the paint somewhere on the side as you recommend Rob. I will try to paint the figure with matt varnish. I will make a base and start thinking about the next figure. Sorry for my poor English:)

Very nice, considering it's only your second figure it's pretty good. Every new one is a learning curve and it's interesting to compare your latest work against your early ones.

Cheers Simon

Interesting collection and yes would love to see more, there is so much diversity in this hobby and that's one of the things that makes it great. Being used to painting small detail will be an asset in 54mm where there is so much more going on in the figure.

Cheers Simon

that reminds me how I was in the very beginning and stil now im not happy with the things I paint, but as long you enjoy the hobby,
that is the most important thing, and yes of course you will be a better painter,me also, and listen good to the advice you get here
from all the other painters, you are gonna learn a lot, just like I do (y)
Enjoy
Mario

Look forward to seeing the next , do share the 1:72 and 28mm in the Completed forum

Thank you very much for your advice and kind words! I'll leave the bookshelf figures in obscurity, but I'll be sure to show off the next 54mm figure :)
I like the proportions of the larger figures. To my eyes they are also a little less tiring.
