Hi folks. Brutal honesty , please. This piece has been specifically commissioned by a work colleague so i am keen to correct any potential errors you might see that I may have overlooked. The base is yet to be made (he wants a sandstone block in a particular style...). No idea what to charge him either! (He's already paid for the kit BTW).

Thanks

In the main it;s excellent as far as I can see, I would add some light highlights to the chain possibly it looks a little grey rather than silver to me

Good point. Now that you mention it......I will do just that. Thank you

Very nice! A Little more shadow or perhaps a little color on his cheeks.
How did you paint the chain mail? What paints did you use?

Regards Lars

Lars,
Undercoated Vallejo black 950 (airbrush application) and then top coated with Vallejo oily steel 865. Sealed with matt varnish but i will go over again with oily steel or satin varnish to bring the sheen back.

Using Russian uniform green is a better colour to use than white for the highlights of the black.
The shield looks great.
A pinwash will lose the flatness a we bit.
run a dark wash over the metal round things to give more contrast.
I'd agree a wee bit more colour to the face.
having said all these..this looks like it has the potential to look a like highly professional finish with just a few tweaks.

Nice work! (y) If the bloodstain is a result related to the tear in his tunic, I would add a little blood to the inside of the tear where it meets the chain mail. Other than that he might need a bit more colour in his face. You might want to give his face a very thin wash of venetian red.
Just my opinion though!

Gary
