Hi there!
This is what I'm currently working on. I knew it wouldn't be an easy piece when I bought it, but I felt brave then..but now..*ahem*.:whistle:
Still a lot of work to do in every front..I'll update this thread when finished. As always comments and criticisms welcome.

You are braver than I am. Fantastic bust but very difficult to paint. Grat job so far. I look forward to seeing the finished thing.

Just keep going Gerard, this is en route to become a stunner!

If you allow me one suggestion: maybe use some very dark shadow in the main folds of the turban? Sparingly, just the deepest folds.

Cheers,
Adrian

Gerard, would you be kind enough to share with us your paint mix for the gold braid?

Cheers
Nicolas(y)

Hi Nicolas..Basically used Vallejo flat brown 70984 as a base and for outlining, beige brown70875 to paint the half tones, and Andrea Light white gold for highlights. then I had to correct at some poins the excess of shine with a (very diluted) layer of matt varnish-Vallejo520..also I'm using vallejo 70982Calvary brown (on a glaze medium) to darken the deepest spaces between braids
