the figure looks gorgeous, i really like the fold and crease work on the overcoat, did you make the overcoat?

Hi Gordy
I'm glad you like my figure and no I didn't do the overcoat. The Corpus figure( http://www.ww2modelmaker.com/images/hobbys.../Corp35-003.jpg ) is so good that all I had to do was alter it a bit and add a new head.

Is there anything I could do when posting picts so that you wouldn't have to modify everything I post ( I'm sure you've got better things to do) As you've probably noticed I'm new to picture posting business and could use any advice you can give me.
TIA

the simplest method is to:

copy your link,
click on the "IMG" button on the Posting toolbar,
and then paste your link in the little window that pops up

I hope that helps :)

It's a replacement head (from Zvezdas set Soviet naval infantry) to give it a more slavic look.
The white putty is Revell (forehead) and the green stuff is Duro yellow-blue puttty (it's very much like soft plastic when it settles, hard to carve)

You are right, it's good for thin rolled pieces and things like pocket flaps because it doesn't break. I've had some breaking problems when I was using milliput for things like that.

i've never used Duro, I hear it's quite "waxy"... sounds like it's good for thin rolled pieces
Gordy, check out the Perry Brothers link I sent you. They do entire figures in Duro like the Aussie set for Peter Jackson:

Duro is the favorite sculpting material for Fantasy/War Gaming sculptors. It takes a little getting used to especially to sculpt like the Perry's but you should try it sometime. It has many useful purposes that are hard to duplicate with other epoxy putties.

Hi Duro fans,

I have heard that Duro or Green Stuff is no longer on market it is supposed to be replaced by a similar putty called Blue Stuff that Staffan mentioned.
If I understood correctly it is blue and settles white, althoughI find that hard to belive. In the US it is supposed to be available in hardware stores in plumbing departments.

Supposedly you can mix Green stuff with Milliput to make it less "waxy" and easier to carve and sand. I have not tried it myself yet but I'll have a go at it and report back!

The Green Stuff sold by Games workshop is as btavis pointed out made by Polymeric Systems but repacked by GW. I belive a pack costs about £3 and you get 2 x 3 inch strips. Polymeric systems sells it in 36in rolls ... so I guess GW makes a nice profit from the repackaging. However I have not found any other sources in europe for the stuff so it's GWs small packs for me :-(

More info on the use of Green Stuff/Kneadatite can be found here.

Cheers!

Staffan

I have mixed Kneadatite with Magic Sculpt and A&B putty. I love the consistency it creates when still soft and it makes a very carvable/sandable material when cured. I actually use only the blue hardener when I do this which works out fine and there are no curing problems.
