I did a test mixing Green stuff and regular Milliputt last night and it worked fine. I did however mix the Green stuff and the Milliput separately first before i mixed it together. 1/3 green stuff and 2/3 Miliput made the best combination, it takes detail as well as Green Stuff and sand/carves almost as well as Milliput and it doesn't fell as brittle as regular Milliput either. So it seems to be a good mix for making banners and other thin objects. I have not tried only using the hardener from the Green Stuff but will do that asap.

Another bonus from mixing the Green Stuff with Milliput is that you can use water to smooth it out.

What I have done is mix the Milliput or Magic Sculpt together as you normally would and then add the blue Kneadatite at about a third of the total mixture of the other. This will give you almost the exact same consistency as adding pre-mixed Kneadatite. The reason why I came to do it this way is that when I mix Kneadatite by itself I mix it in the ratio of 2/3 Yellow to 1/3 Blue. I was always left with excess blue hardener. This gave me a another way to use it up.

The reason I mix Kneadatite (i.e. 2/3 to 1/3) this way is to slow down the cure time. Kneadatite can be mixed in any proportions to either speed up or slow down the cure time. This is not true for the other epoxies but I do not know why that is chemically speaking.

Incidentally, talking about smoothing with water, the absolutely best stuff for working this way is with Apoxie. As a matter of fact you can almost create a paste for filling in pits, rough spots with watered down Apoxie.

Nice figure. The folds on the figure are great, very natural looking. I would go ahead and give him a weapon of some sort.~Gary

Just a comment on Kneadatite: the stuff is now available in a package that keeps the yellow and blue parts seperate, avoiding the binning of the bits that touch. As I understand it, this was a result of Polymerics listening to the 28mm sculpting community on the yahoo group 'ListSclupting', who now make up a considerable part of the kneadatite market.

It looks like this:

scroll down and look at the 'pro pack'

not only that, they sell 35 1/2 inches for £8.50, beat that Games Workshop!

As to the figure, he's looking very good!

Rob

I've heard green stuff would be replaced by Brown stuff and that it would be even better. Green stuff is also known as Kneadalite. Since I discouvered magic Sculpt I don't use Green Stuff anymore as I find Magic Sculpt even a lot better.

Gino
