The 1/35 diorama I’m currently working on depicts a French officer’s car being chased across country by German Uhlan cavalry. Setting late summer 1914, Western front.

1/35 ICM taxi of the Marne, converting it into a Renault 1907 20/30 tourer. The figures so far are converted ICM with a mix of Masterbox and zvezda horses.

Resculpted with my usual mix of Greenstuff/Apoxie putty.

Hi Marcus

A BIG THANK YOU my friend for posting this , I know your busy and it's much appreciated and going to be enjoyed as this progresses

Love the idea you have for this , is it inspired by any particular picture perhaps ?

Lovely conversion work on the All but especially the car , good movement and interesting interaction between the Uhlans and the passengers ....like the one holding on to the cap ....very clever idea

Hope the new base goes well and behaves itself !

Following with interest and wonder at the putty work

Happy benchtime

Brilliant Marcus! I am taking months to convert six figures yet here you are churning out mega conversions in a matter of weeks. The inspiration and realisation of this is fantastic, I really look forward to seeing this progress.

Great work on the car conversion btw(y)

An ideal shape for the base, drawing the eye through the composition. This is a winner. Bummer about the base material! I still use celluclay, which shrinks so it needs back filling, but it has done a good job of drying in a day or two.

Thank you everyone for your kind words of encouragement. I have re-iced the cake :D fingers crossed it sets this time. I will edge the base with picture frame detail and looking forward to turning it into a summer French country lane to set the chase scene.

Using this and a couple of other images as reference.

In terms of inspiration, only from my imagination, based on reading about the open and mobile warfare, late summer of 1914; before the stalemate of the western front. Uhlan roamed the countryside looking for easy targets and to gather intelligence. So I figured a French officer caught travelling between army camps is very plausible. The armoured cars came about as response to the cavalry threat with some bringing back Uhlan lances as war trophies. But that’s for another scene.

The new filler for the base seems to be drying much better already, so getting there now. Need to add some detailing to the base before priming and side painting then I can work on the country lane details.
