Having a go at this one , leathers about finished ,face : foundation of oils I will do the
highs and lows once dry and a wee bit of colour to the cheeks not much tho ,
the cross will be the usual red ,just a little experiment with the undercoat.


Please don't change the format again for a while Gordy as i have just got the hang of posting pics now

a bit of experimenting going on with this one , I might go down the purple mauve road with the flesh something that was predominant at Euro he certainly needs
to have a cool flesh tone ,also experimenting with the metals on the tin hat since humbrol decided to change there metal cote stuff.

Looking good Ron. I'll be interested in seeing the 'cool' skin tone, I've only ever seen one painted as a Teutonic with a colder look. The dozens of others have always had a hot and dusty Outremer look.

Hi Steve
The same recipe I use for making Melanzani

Kidding aside , I under paint with a sand colour with airbrush let set for 24hrs then whack on sepia oils and start to lift back off with dry flat brushes and filberts
when the brush gets saturated i move to a fresh one and so on ,this allows the undercoat to shine thru on the high spots and gives a nice sheen
on the hard edges like the belts i also lift off the paint with a cotton bud until the base shows thru then go back over with a dry brush again to blend .
Its all abit hard on the brushes so I use the art master pearl series 33 as they are cheap and save the series sevens for the neat work.
the trick is to get as much paint off as possable.
