Hi folks

Thought I would share this that my long suffering "mucka buddy pal Jimbo " did for me after one of my comments ......

"Hey James ......I have a idea"

A veteran from the Crimean war , medal worn , all he has is what's left of a torn uniform and anything else he can find .......

Begging for coppers ...unshaven , balding but still proud ..now vey much down on his luck ......

Lost his left leg at Alma .........leaning for support on a makeshift crutch ......

He gave so much ......

Working title ...."2 pennies for me leg" ....

Or something similar ..ideas welcome !

Pics not great wanted to get this V bench started

All basecoated ...going for a worn , dirty look

Eyes done ..looking to his right ..with contempt at those passing him by

All thoughts idea etc welcome

Hi Guys

Just spent a day at Jimbo's with his culinary skills of a fine repast of edible cheese and ham on a bed of bread ...especially selected for ease of digestion ............

Oh and we did some modelling ..painting ...well some of the time ..I was working on this and after using the ablutiobs came back to find this on the bench ...image.jpeg

YES it " came off in his hand " .........oh yeah really.James ..lol

So as a punishment I supeglued his feet to the floor till he did this

Yep that's right he now has a Victorian bowler hat ........

Looks good eh ....

Actually the old cap came off in my hand ...cleanly !

James had his putty to hand so he kindly did the new hat ....

Verbal update ...tunic 70% , lace basecoated in black to tidy it up ....

Hapoy days ....

Good work Kevin.
Taking a very atmospheric feel with the bedraggled veteran.
I like the work you have done on the cape.
Knowing that you are still beavering away, I will cautiously comment that among the weathered uniform his medal looks too clean. But that's just me Mate.
Looking forward to the next instalment.

Hi guys

Many thanks for the comments appreciate you looking in

Bob ...the fingers in this position work better ..even "legs Evans" agreed! ..lol

Keith ..what am I going to do with you ..glad you like the cape/blanket ..still to do some highlight touches

You comment all you want mate ....the ribbon was only just painted and will be dirtied up ! ...I will do it after tge lacework has been done ..the medal won't be so shiny as well when painted !

It's a great subject and painting dirty is a challenge but I keep looking at his face complete with spots and chuckle to myself ...

Was looking at it last night ..forgot the lace on cuff tab , also it should have been green not red ..all base coated now !

so ...onwards and upwards

Hi Mate,
I thought that you had the medals under control but said about it in case you went back into shine medal Mott mode.
As for weathering, the tone is set with that face. Great work on it, warts and all is a good point of reference for the remaining grubbying up. You know that any way.
It's all looking very well so press on Kev.

Great painting Nap , can't wait for the big reveal.

Coming soon Bob .....last time I revealed I spent the night in the cells !

Looking good Kev, I like the colour of the blanket, nice one mate(y)
Cheers
Jim

Cheers Jimbo reckon I deserve a biscuit ..or several

Thanks for looking in
