Hi Guys

Originally sculpted by PF member Gaudin

This piece was also painted by

Ron ( Kagamusha )

One of the purchasers originally was US member Kevindunne who painted this version

This was featured in the recent Armistice Project organised by Kevin

I was lucky to be sent a copy of this Kangeroo by Kevin ...just had to get going on it !

Inspired by both Ron and Kevin's version

So suitably looking at the piece I did the following

Added a piece of real stick/straw in the mouth and whiskers ....these were donated by your author amid much laughter at my so called bushy eyebrows by my wife who set about with her scissors .....

image.jpeg ...yes they are mine !

Much shallow breathing and they were in place on the Roo ...little difficult to see at the moment

I did a bit of research and found that those that were at Gallipoli were entitled to wear a brass "A" on their shoulder patches on each arm ...

So .....I redid the patches to slightly higher and added the "A" using Slaters lettering ...pleased with result

I also opened up the top pouch on the bandolier

Roo is mounted on a gnarled rugged base from Pete Watson of Pete's Bases ( a supporter of our feature FOTM )

Currently it is primed in AP black ...drying fully overnight ...click on pics for larger image

Here are some of the research pics for the uniform details

Hi Nap :)

Your threads are overwhelmed by information, photographs and historical backgrounds (even in this case :) ). It's always great to go through your threads, there's a lot of inspiration in them, I'll have to explore the whole year that I was not here. I will follow your further progress with great curiosity...

Cheers Borek

Good to have you back my friend ..and good you are following this ......even though it's a animal ...the research was important to get right in order to pay a humble tribute to the ANZAC troops ....you can see this also by the sculpt that Gaudin did and also from Richie in taking it on .

Thanks for commenting

Love it so far Busty (y)
Really like the detail changes you've made (and glad to see that his whiskers won't be curly ;)) I like the contrasting tome of hat and shirt too.
Never came across slaters letters before; presumably plastic or etched brass?
