DAM/76: TEUTONIC KNIGHT, TANNENBERG 1410 (ALEXANDROS MODELS)

I bought this last week. Fantastic looking figure. The casting seems are minor, and most look easy to fix. I'm really not sure about the use of a pavisse by a man-at-arms though. I've never seen this before. The left hand is cast on the pavisse, so it would be tough to change. Andy

La Meridiana Miniatures - New release

There's an amazing 'First Peoples' suit of armour in the Canadian War Museum. I'd love to see a figure sporting that outfit! Just got the La Meridiana figure for Christmas, so I found this old thread. The figure is well cast, lots of parts, but fit looks good. Cheers Andy

I guess you'd have to be Canadian....

You know some baseball fan might chip in now... My Dad was a big Leafs fan. Could be worse, I guess, one could be a Newcastle United fan... There are lots of the Marfarlane horror figures available at the 'Media Play' chain around here. And I saw a few football figures too, but I'll have to...

I guess you'd have to be Canadian....

Hi Colin I was wondering when someone from Hogtown would react... :o ;) And I suppose we should be referring to him as Senator Mahovlich. Cheers Andy

UEM takes PayPal if you contact them. Internet Hobbies does too, but that store sucks (long story, detailed here some time back). I mention them only for completeness. Andy

I guess you'd have to be Canadian....

Too bad he's in Blue and White! He should be wearing the CH on his chest!!! ;) You did a great job on him, and I'd love to hear how you modified it from the original! Were there seams to fill? And the Roadrunner would be a great figure! Is there a Serge Savard or a Beliveau in the series? Andy

    italian man at arms

Hi Talino What scales? What timeframe? Do you mean in a full coat of plates? There are some nice Border Miniatures figures in full plate from the War of the Roses period (80mm). There are lots of Verlinden figures in 120mm. There's a couple of Andrea figures that may fit the bill. There are...

    battle damage on shield

Hi Do you mean that you are wanting to have some cuts in the leather covering? If so, you can make gashes in the resin, or put a very thin layer of putty over the shield, and slice that up. If you want more serious damage, then you'll have to hack it up a bit, and try to show the look of...

    Soldiers (Italy) Question

Some folks have noted a decline in quality of the Soldiers' castings in the last couple of years. Mold shifts, more pitting etc. The problem I've had with Soldiers is missing parts. Their quality control is bad at times, and their customer service is terrible! They NEVER reply to e-mails, and...

    Need help simulating slushy snow…

Hi For good slush/corn snow I have used Hudson and Allen 'Slush'. It's some kind of sparkly mineral stuff, with a coarser grain than microballoons or baking soda. It looks pretty good when dry, and if you find it too shiny, it's easy to scale back with some matt finish. So far it's the only...

    fear of heraldry!

Just go for it. You have to remember most heraldry was not like you see on those Russian figures at all the shows and in the magazines. These were simple designs used for recognition. There's a new article about painting heraldry that was put up on EPH today...

    More Napoleonics

Here! Here! Some decent figures of naval officers and seamen from the 18th and 19th centuries would be great! Andy
