As I mentioned on my other thread, I'm working on this piece at the same time.

The figure is from the TFB range and sculpted by John Rosengrant.

At this stage I've painted the face, keeping the flesh tones relatively subtle.
I've given him a 5 o'clock shadow, and kept this subtle as well.
Apart from the waistcoat, the other colours are just a basecoat.

My apologies the photos aren't great, Hopefully I can post some better images later on.

And yes, after this mornings painted session, I returned to my decorating. :(

Hi Malc

You are switching not only scales but periods between this and the excellent WW1 bust you have on the bench

This is certainly a very popular figure and this is a lovely start ...like the 5 o’clock

Following with interest

Happy benchtime in between the wallpapering

My apologies, I forgot to provide the palette I used for the waistcoat.

The colours use are all from the Scale 75 range.

I used Thar Brown for the basecoat.
Shadows, Thar Brown with a little Black.
1st highlight, Thar Brown + Mojave White.
2nd Highlight, Mojave White + White.

Hi Steve. I too thought it looked a bit like John, but thought I must be wrong, but now thanks to you I know otherwise.

It's a common theme with JR!

Just to be clear though, this is just an observation, not a criticism. I'm a big fan of his work as both a sculptor and painter, and have drawn a lot of inspiration from it over the years.

As far as your take on the TFB piece is concerned, you're off to a great start and I look forward to seeing the end result.
