I started this 8 x 10 acrylic painting a few days or so after finishing the Fairchild piece. The sky and treeline in the distance are finished for the most part. The smaller trees are complete except for possibly a little highlighting here and there. The trees closer to the figure will have a lot more detail. I'm in the process of blocking in the main elements of the painting. Check out my blog for further details.~Gary

I should be posting pictures of the finished Confederate marine today also.

The soldier looks lot like Horan's figures pose :)

JP
JP, I know Bill has done similiar poses, I actually came up with this on my own. :) It can sometimes be a challange to not keep coming up with the same types of poses. The painting will be done mostly in acrylics with a few spots here and there done in gouache.~Gary

Gary - That's great, mate!! You almost inspire me to pull out my watercolors. ALMOST...I SAID ALMOST!

Dan
ALMOST? Go ahead dan do it! It would be neat to do a WW1 landscape in earth tones, trying to replicate the environment of the trenches. Go for it.~Gary

The background of the painting is almost complete except for a few more darks and highlights that need to be added to the leaves.

Hey Gary, the work on the groundwork, especially the leaves, is impressive. Great stuff
