Marc, I probably could have added a little more detail, but I did not want the figure's environment to upstage him.~Gary

This is terrific, Gary! Have you considered illustrating for Osprey, etc.? I think you have the talent, my friend.

All the best,
Dan
Dan, Thanks I really appreciate it. As for Osprey, I've thought about it, but the idea of having to complete 8-10 paintings in a short amount of time brings me back to reality. Maybe later down the road I'd feel comfortable enough to take on a job or two if the turnaround time is not crazy.~Gary

Very impressing! Painting those leaves sure would have make me grazy!;) Definitely nice job. looking for update!

Cheers Mikko

Hello Gary,

Great work!

Do you nowadays ever paint your own sculpts by the way? You should certainly have the skills for that too!

Thanks for posting something that is not a model figure, but of course not less inspiring!

Best wishes,

Marijn

Marijn, I have only ever painted about 6 miniatures in my lifetime. When it comes to painting figures I'm just too critical on myself to complete them. There always seems to be so many things do not like about the way it's been painted. Maybe this year I'll surprise myself and try painting something.

Doing these figure studies has been a lot of fun, but the putty has been calling from my other worktable. Thanks for the kind words.~Gary

Work has now moved on to the figure. The waistcoat was painted four times as I could not get the stripes the color I imagined. The face may look complete but still has a little more work to go. Feel free to follow the link at the bottom of the page for additional commments on my blog.

I like it. I like the clean sharp style of the work. Sure wish I could do that ;)

Keith, Thanks a lot. I'm a little disappointed in the way the color has reproduced in the scans. There's a big difference between these and the actual painting.~Gary

Painting done

I FINALLY finished the painting today. It took me a while to get my concentration back to where I was able to complete it. Hopefully the next one will be at the least a bit different in terms of style.
