Hmmmmm so these are the ones I heard about? Looking nice Gordy. It's good to see your hands pushing some putty around again. Keep us posted, I'm looking forward to seeing these complete.

Hi Gordy,

Looking very promissing.

I am very happy that you are back to sculpting. Send more pictures.

Thanks all, it's great to be back in the clay :)

Ken, I started with Atlas EpoxyBond for the footwear, i'm using Milliput here on out. I try experimenting with other putties but keep going back to Milliput. The Atlas stuff is great, very similar to Aves in terms of softness but too weak when cured, cracks and breaks too easily (I am too rough) I've used Magic Sculpt once before but was turned off, similar to aves it was too translucent for my liking and when scored with a knife edge it left lightened ridges that was difficult to determine the edge.

My only peeve with the white milliput is sometimes it's blindingly too white, the yellow-gray is my fav but I'm out at the moment ;)

Gordy,
The pose looks already great! looking forward to see some more putty.

Cheers,
Marcel.

Gordy, That's the problem Aves being white. One thing you could try is watering down a spot of acrylic paint and then mix it in with the putty. I'm sure it will color the putty. It's a messy alternative but it offers an option to dealing with the white of the putty. ~Gary

good idea, i'll give it a try on another project

on a different subject, personally, I like to avoid mixing colored putties on pieces since the different colors throw my scaling off , in the same manner that geometry does in optical illusions:

Gordy,

Just add some black vallejo to either Magic Sculpt or Aves Apoxie Sculpt to get a different color. It will not affect any properties of the putty what so ever except the color.

Good idea, I just don't care for how prone Aves and magicsculp are to cracking.

The new black milliput looks promising (mixing with the white)

Aves is definately more brittle then Magic Sculpt. Magic Sculpt is pretty damn hard, especially if you speed cure it. It has a great concistency when cured, more of a waxy feel then the plaster feel of Milliput. You carve a lot so you should really like Magic Sculpt as it carves like a dream.
