i didnt realise untill recently that you sculpt Gordy and you do it well, why the long break from it ?

I agree with Anders that if you speed cure MS under a lamp it gives you better properties for carving.

Thanks :) , I've just been busy with work and family-

I'll give MagicSculp another go down the road, i was given a used batch from a buddy so it may have not been the best :D

A solution to both problems with Aves and magic sculpt is to mix in a little of the Duro or green stuff it adds a little stiffness to the putty as you work it which for me is a good thing. It also adds a little flexibility to the cured putty. it also adds a little color to the putties it is green but it makes things easier to see. Best of both worlds.

Thanks Jeff, sounds interesting I will try that next time I get some across my desk!

54mm Highlanders Update 12/5/09

Some new shots of progress so far (I'm still struggling with the wifes camera!)
I was waiting for my heads to show up in the mail, but never came so I opted for some pre-fabs (running short on time!)

Man its so cool to see you back at it Gordy. You were the one who turned me onto carving etc, and it has changed my approach to sculpting ever since. Keep at it and hopefully you will figure out the camera and we can see some amazing SBS pictures like we have grown accustomed to from you.

Thanks all!

Anders, carving is probably the main reason i stick with milliput, add, shape, carve, add, refine, rinse and repeat! ;) and yes a better macro is definitely needed!!

Marc,
Thanks, I only carve about 5% of the time, mostly it's adding and shaping. I do it to when things look off balance and need to refine putty that is already cured.

An exacto knife is just like a miniature chisel and hammer ! ;)

If you need some let me know I will send some your way. I never use a whole roll or tube before it goes bad. Send me your address and I will mail some out to you this week.
