Ciao,
This is my new project : A celt cavalryman in 90mm, it is a old kit from Decima that i was able to find in a store, i think is the only kit of a celt with horse in this scale . I have half done the head with the helmet and the mail, the other parts are only with the base coat , i have to decide if the trousers could work with the simple stripes or with other to seem a sort of tartan

Great! A Celtic Equestrian figure. . .

Stefano:

This is a figure I am not familiar with. . . yeh well, so what else
is new:confused:

I really like the idea of a Celtic Equestrian. Something I haven't seen that
often. Your colour choices are very interesting and I really like the pants,
as that shade of off white and green for the stripes is so interesting. Plus
the light blue that you've picked for the tunic (?) shirt. . . what ever:)
Those shades of Lime green and blue really work so well. I never would have
thought of doing that. Put that way in what is left of my memory bank.

You have an excellent sense of colour, lots of subtly to it. Impressive.

Nice start Stefano, the Face is really going to be nice. I am interested to see the horse that goes with him.

Stefano, great start , regarding your dilemma with the pants, IMHO they look fine as they are, however a subtle tartan I think would be better. Will follow with interest. (y)

Cheers Ken

CARL, RICK, JOHN, FABIO, KEN, MARC, thank you for your kind words and your suggestions about the trousers , much appreciated.

Thank you for your comment, if you are interested how is the figure with the horse ..this is the pic of the box art ..considering that it is painted with a " style " of 15 years ago more less and i don't know who is the painter :)

and this is my idea concerning the painting of the horse, it is a breton horse , people think it is more less the same type of horse the celt had

Thanks for showing the horse. I like what you plan to do much better than the box art. I really look forward to seeing this baby finished. I have never painted a horse (but want to) and would enjoy seeing some progress photo's (if you have time).

Thanks again!!

Celt

Ubbi,
Great start , this looks like its based on the illustration in the Osprey Book , love the horse , please do post a SBS if you are able to do so . I like the idea of a subtle tartan..with a worn look .(y)

Keep painting , always a pleasure seeing your work .

I LOVE painting horses in that scale. Back in the day when you could still get them I built a small stash of Poste Militaire bare horses... they are a joy to paint.

For a dapple horse like that I highly recommend using Oils. It is so easy to add a drop of the light color on the uncured oils and stipple the color in to get that effect. Also don't forget to go in and sculpt the felocks on the model like the horse in the picture has that is one thing that is immediately noticable between your reference shot and the picture of the model.

Good luck it's looking good so far!

Thank you Nap for your kind words, in effect the figure is from the Osprey book and it has also the helm with the raven ;)
